Physical type is just one factor that determines a woman’s level of fertility in reality. There are other factors as well.

While infertility in women has been linked to miscarriages, difficulty conceiving, and obesity, infertility problems can affect individuals of any size.

Mary’s pregnancy and delivery had proceeded without any problems. Michelle, their newborn baby, didn’t seem to be experiencing any problems. However, the physicians saw something wasn’t quite right as soon as she opened her eyes. They were unable to identify it until they examined medical literature and talked with a geneticist at a different facility.

Michelle had a wide innocent face. She had a nose like a little beak and was turning bald. After further investigation, it was discovered that she had Hallermann-Streiff syndrome, a genetic condition of which there are just 250 known cases worldwide.

When Michelle was born at Children’s Memorial Hospital, no one had ever been present to see her birth.

The doctor’s diagnosis of Hallermann-Streiff syndrome stopped my heart. Michelle’s mother said, “I was concerned about our child’s care because they had a rare genetic disease that only affects one in five million people.”
