Stay Hydrated in a Changing World – Flip the Script on Hydration

As the world heats up at an alarming rate, we’re all seeking for ways to stay cool and hydrated. What if we told you that drinking water isn’t always the greatest way to stay hydrated, though? In fact, skim milk is the greatest choice for staying hydrated, according to a groundbreaking study from St Andrews University in Scotland.

The widespread belief that drinks with more sugar, fat, or protein can keep you hydrated longer is refuted by this study. Though water may quench your thirst momentarily, skim milk has been found to keep you hydrated for far longer.

 

Professor Ronald Maughan of St. Andrews Medical School, the study’s primary author, emphasizes the importance of the quantity and nutritional composition of the beverages we drink in order to maintain the optimal level of hydration. Increasing water consumption speeds up the rate at which it leaves the stomach and is absorbed into the bloodstream.
