These were the areas most exposed to the daily rigors of pavement and highways. It was about more than just adding metal plates to the bottoms of shoes to make them last longer. Improved stability and traction were also suggested. So whether you were dancing the night away or swiftly strolling to work, those plates had your back—er, feet.
