A mother and her four puppies, along with the other four dogs in the family, were eventually saved from a big wildfire after spending days cramped in a car with the residents.
The massive Park Fire that broke out last week in Northern California caused immense damage and is thought to have been started by arson. With a total area of more than 380,000 acres, it is presently the seventh largest wildfire in California history.
Thousands of people living in four counties were forced to relocate. While fleeing a far-off place, a Butte County resident’s truck broke down, forcing them to leave their four puppies and two adult rottweilers inside.
Due to the flames, no one could reach the puppies, so they were trapped in the car for days. But as soon as it was safe to do so, two search and rescue workers from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office went out to get the dogs.
According to a department notice, pilot Conner Smith and BCSO member Trevor Skaggs arrived in the disaster-stricken area via air. After that, Trevor traveled 1.5 miles to find the dog. The mother and all of the puppies were still alive, but the pups’ father—a male adult dog—had sadly passed away.
