‘Baby Driver’ Star Died From Injuries Before The Eyes Of His Family At 16 – Details

Hudson Joseph Meek, a talented 16-year-old actor best known for his role in the critically acclaimed film “Baby Driver,” tragically passed away from injuries sustained in a devastating accident.

According to a release from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Meek died surrounded by loved ones on December 22 at UAB Hospital, less than 48 hours after being thrown from a moving vehicle.

The incident, which occurred in the 1900 block of Canyon Road in Vestavia Hills, left the young actor with severe blunt force injuries. Born on August 5, 2008, to Derek and Lani, Meek was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, according to his obituary.
He was a well-rounded student who excelled both academically and socially. Meek was a proud member of the Vestavia Hills Rebel Football Team, actively participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and contributed to the Honor Choir and Student Government Association.

His vibrant personality and love for sports, especially football, basketball, and boxing, endeared him to many. His passion for the Auburn Tigers and his adventurous spiritshone through his love of outdoor activities, water sports, and spending time with his close-knit circle of friends.

While the 16-year-old lived a full and active life, he was also an accomplished young actor. He rose to fame playing the younger version of Ansel Elgort’s character in “Baby Driver,” earning recognition for his natural talent.

His career included roles in the TV series “Found” and the film “90 Minutes in Heaven.” News of his passing sent shockwaves through his community and beyond.

Loved ones took to Facebook to share in part, “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

The young talent’s family also emphasized the enduring legacy he leaves behind, both as an organ donor and through the lives he touched.

It was announced that a Celebration of Life service would be held on December 28, 2024, at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama, with visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. and the service live-streamed at 11:30 a.m. central time.

Details about contributing to a scholarship fund in his honor at Vestavia Hills High School were also shared, reflecting Meek’s commitment to his school and community.
The young actor’s untimely passing is a profound loss to his family, friends, and fans. His incredible talent, infectious enthusiasm, and compassionate spirit will never be forgotten.
