Bill Gates names three professions safe from AI takeover

Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft, predicts that AI will replace humans in many roles. This rapid rise of AI has sparked job fears, with a study showing 54% of banking roles could be automated. For example, Singapore’s DBS Bank may cut nearly 4,000 jobs in the next three years due to AI.

However, Gates believes three professions will endure: coders, energy experts, and biologists. He argues that human coders will still be needed to fix errors, improve algorithms, and guide AI’s development.

This contrasts with others like NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang, who warns against pursuing software careers, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman, who urges young people to master AI tools.

Gates adds that while AI helps in biology, it lacks the creativity essential for true scientific discovery. Similarly, he says energy roles are too complex for full automation, making them secure in an AI-driven future.
