Early Life and Education

Born on March 13, 1956, in New York City, Dana Delany quickly emerged as a versatile American actress known for her ability to portray complex characters. Growing up in Stamford, Connecticut, she attended Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where she broke ground as one of the first girls admitted. Afterward, she studied theater at Wesleyan University, where she sharpened her acting skills before moving to New York City to launch her career.

 

 

Breakthrough Role

Delany’s career took off in 1988 when she landed the role of Colleen McMurphy in the critically acclaimed television series China Beach. Her powerful portrayal of a compassionate and resilient Army nurse during the Vietnam War earned her two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. This role propelled her into the limelight and made her a household name.

Throughout her career, Delany has showcased her talent in a wide range of television shows and films. Notable roles include Katherine Mayfair on Desperate Housewives and Megan Hunt on Body of Proof.
