Elvis Presley’s Private Jet from 1962 Has Finally Been Sold—And It’s Stunning Inside

Elvis Presley wasn’t just a musical legend—he had a flair for food, fashion, and interior design. One shining example? His private Lockheed Jetstar, purchased in 1962 and custom-designed to fit his lavish style.

The plane’s interior screams royalty: plush crimson velvet seats, rich wood paneling, and even a “high-tech” television for its time. It features one large room with ample seating, a compact kitchen, and a surprisingly spacious lavatory—complete with more velvet and a fancy sink.

After Elvis’s death in 1977, the jet sat unused for decades in Roswell, New Mexico, serving as a roadside tourist attraction. Its muted red exterior remains, and despite years of inactivity, the aircraft is in surprisingly good shape.

On January 8, 2023, the jet sold at the Mecum Kissimmee Collector Vehicle Auction in Florida for $260,000. The winning bid came via phone from an anonymous Elvis fan.

Elvis and his father, Vernon Presley, were reportedly aboard the plane during its inaugural flight. It’s easy to imagine the King preparing one of his infamous sandwiches—peanut butter, bacon, banana, and mayo—in the tiny onboard kitchen.

Though it no longer flies, the jet offers a rare glimpse into Elvis’s taste and lifestyle.
