Extremly Sad News For Shannen

Shannen Doherty Shares Distressing Update on Brain Cancer Battle

Facing New Challenges

Actress Shannen Doherty, known for her candidness regarding her cancer journey, has shared a distressing update. Taking to Instagram, she revealed, “January 5th, my ct scan showed Mets in my brain.”

New Frontiers in Treatment

Shannen Doherty is currently undergoing radiation therapy to combat her brain cancer. On January 12th, she underwent her initial radiation treatment. Her honesty shines through as she admits, “It’s clear that I’m afraid. My life was quite busy because I have severe claustrophobia.”

Acknowledging Her Care Team

Amid the turmoil, Doherty expressed gratitude for her medical team, particularly highlighting Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the skilled technologists at Cedar Sinai. She acknowledges the challenging reality of cancer, stating, “But this is what cancer may look like—that worry, that turbulence, that timing.” She shared a video of her radiation treatment, displaying her vulnerability without reservation.

A Journey of Resilience

Doherty’s cancer journey commenced in 2015 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread. She courageously faced radiation, chemotherapy, and a mastectomy, ultimately achieving remission in 2017.

Facing a Recurrence

However, in 2019, cancer reentered Doherty’s life. She kept this recurrence private until 2020 when she disclosed that her breast cancer had reached stage 4. The revelation that the cancer had now metastasized to her brain has presented a daunting challenge, one she faces without the support of her now-former husband.

A Life-Altering Decision

Just three months into her brain cancer treatment, Doherty revealed in April 2023 that she was divorcing her husband of 11 years, Kurt Iswarienko. The split was spurred by his alleged intimate involvement with his PR work.
