Celine Dion’s Unpaid Performance at the Opening Ceremony

Celine Dion made a remarkable return to the stage at the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in Paris, her first performance since being diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome. Joining forces with Lady Gaga, Dion delivered a stirring rendition of Édith Piaf’s “La Vie en Rose.”

Initially, reports suggested that Dion would receive $2 million for her performance, with travel expenses covered by the Olympics. However, a spokesperson for the Paris 2024 Games later clarified that performers did not receive any fees. Instead, technical production costs and other performance-related expenses were covered, underscoring the performers’ commitment to being part of this historic event rather than performing for monetary gain.
