In addition to witnessing the incredibly unusual sight of the Broken specter, Rhys was rewarded with the chance to enjoy the dawn.
The hiker took some amazing pictures that appear to show a person moving through the clouds while glowing in a circular rainbow.
According to reports, the supernatural phenomenon occurs when a person is illuminated by the low sun while peering into mist from a higher elevation. A silhouette against the rainbow and a person in the clouds are produced by the forward projection of the viewer’s shadow.
Rhys told North Wales Live, “My friend and I made the decision to go up even though there was only a 50/50 chance of seeing the sunrise because of the cloud.”
He motioned for me to continue because he was moving a little more slowly than I was, so I started to snap some pictures of the sunrise when I suppose I arrived at the summit at about 8.15 a.m. There were also a couple additional people there at that time.
When my friend arrived at the summit around an hour later, the Brocken specter happened. It was the perfect time. It was all pure coincidence.
Nobody can deny that it’s an extraordinarily gorgeous photo, even if it was only a matter of luck. What a fantastic way to begin 2020!
