Melania Trump continued the tradition of First Ladies meeting patients at the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. She read the children a Christmas story, yet though it was a cute moment, social media slammed Melania. Some peoplr claimed she showed no emotion and couldn’t speak English properly.
The First Lady’s tradition of visiting a children’s hospital started with Bess Truman, who served from 1945 to 1953. The tradition during the festive period is to help bring a smile to the children being treated.
Melania Trump has continued to give the children an early Christmas present when she showed up and spent time with them. The First Lady of the US visited the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, on December 5th.
The hospital wrote on its website that Melanai was “escorted by two incredible patients, Faith and Riley, and their bubbly personalities and positive energy brought further festive spirit to this special event.”
The visit “is still one of the most cherished traditions at Children’s National, offering meaningful connection and encouragement to patients, families and staff during the holiday season.”

During the visit, she sat down in a big red chair in front of a Christmas tree and read the Mac Barnett book How Does Santa Go Down the Chimney in front of two dozen children.
