Mom Who Kicked Her Kids Out When They Turned 18

In a recent Reddit post, a young woman shared her heartbreaking story of being repeatedly let down by her demanding, toxic mother. After years of emotional turmoil and broken promises, she found herself at a breaking point when her mother showed up on her doorstep, expecting to move in.

The backstory is all too familiar for many – a parent who refuses to take responsibility for their own life, relying on their children to pick up the pieces. This woman’s mother had a history of failing to hold down a job, even when her kids were older, and would often create tension in her children’s homes.

When the mother’s second husband passed away, leaving his assets to his own adult children rather than his wife, she was left with nowhere to turn. She had already been kicked out of her son’s home due to her inability to fulfill her end of the childcare agreement and her toxic behavior towards his wife. Now, she was demanding to move in with her daughter, claiming she would “help” with the young child.
