This Retired Icon Was One of the Sexiest Women of the 20th Century, Secretly Married, & Disappeared for Years

According to media organizations, the couple discreetly tied the knot in August 1992, and only a small number of pals attended their special day. The pair has been happy together ever since. The “Contempt” star’s acquaintances told a news site that Brigitte was happier than she had been in a long time after her surprise and secret marriage to Bernard.

It’s amazing to think that after her first husband passed away, Brigitte’s friends had doubts about her getting married again. This was prior to the couple’s marriage. Nevertheless, Brigitte’s lavish ten-bedroom home in Saint-Tropez was shared by the couple, who were married in a quaint small wooden chapel in Norway.

Since their initial encounter, Bernard has been Brigitte’s pillar of support, especially during her health issues. When it was first reported in French media that their beloved actress had allegedly overdosed on sedatives in 1992 while at home, Brigitte’s hero quickly soothed the incredibly terrified public by explaining:

Brigitte was so tired that she took too many medications in an effort to get to sleep. After a few hours, she was OK and didn’t require a stomach pump.

Bernard’s claim was supported by additional confirmation of Brigitte’s condition from a representative of the facility where she was transported. However, years after her sedated shock, Brigitte had to cope with another health problem.

Brigitte’s breathing difficulties earlier this year were confirmed by Bernard. Thankfully, it was quickly attended to by emergency personnel, who also provided her with oxygen and stayed to ensure her safety.

Bernard mentioned a strong heatwave that was affecting most of Europe at the time and blamed it on weather-related reasons and aging on his wife’s respiratory problems. It appeared that the air conditioning system in their La Madrague house was not performing at its peak.

Despite public promises to the contrary, a news site had reported that Brigitte had stayed in the intensive care unit (ICU). However, the star of “A Very Private Affair” made the following correction in a handwritten note:

“I want to give everyone reassurance.” I’m doing really well. The press made a huge deal out of my illness.

Recently, the adored character was spotted out and about making an uncommon appearance. The iconic figure experienced breathing problems earlier this year. On her 89th birthday, Brigitte was captured by photographers having fun on a drive in the South of France.

The actress was seen driving a little white van between her La Madrague and La Garigue homes. Her famous golden hair was tied back, framing her face except for a few wayward strands. To shield her eyes from the light, she also wore big sunglasses.

The rare outing takes place several years after Brigitte was last seen in public and a few months after emergency workers came at her house to assist with her respiratory issues.
